Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is coaching all about?

A. Coaching is the process that helps you understand your potential, so that you can maximize your performance. Coaching often helps you develop your skill, knowledge and personal qualities, so that you can improve your performance on the job.

Q. Are there different kinds of coaching?

A. Yes. Coaches help people in many ways. Some coaches focus on making you a better sportsman (say soccer or cricket for example). Some coaches help you address issues in your life - problems at home, friends, family etc. Other coaches help you improve your health - like your gym instructor. GetCoached is focused on helping you perform better at your workplace, shape your career and address work related issues.

Q. How do I know that I need a coach?

A. A coach can help you in many ways. Think about these questions: Do you have problems at the workplace which you are not able to find a solution for? Do you have worries about your career growth and need help to make some decisions or take the next steps? Do you wish to improve your performance on the job but are not knowing the ways and means to do so? If these questions are relevant to you, then it is quite likely that a coach can help you to address these questions.

Q. What will the coach do for me?

A. The coach will help you think and act differently. You may be surprised to know that the answers to your problems and issues often lie with you. However, the coach helps you discover these answers, by way of questioning and by making you look at things from a different perspective. The coach is not going to take over your work or fix the issue for you. It is much more fun to implement a solution that you have identified on your own.

Q. What is the coaching process like?

A. The Coaching Process page gives you details about the process. This is at a broad level. For each individual, the approach will differ, depending on your situation and needs.

Q. How long does the coaching take place for?

A. As long as you want it to. Often, your queries or concerns may get addressed in one session itself. At times, you may require to have multiple interactions to move ahead in achieving your goals.

Q. How much time does one coaching session take?

A. Typically, coaching interactions go on for 1-1.5 hours. At the end of the session, you and the coach agree to meet again, or simply conclude on the discussion that took place and the next steps if any. In some cases, the discussion may continue beyond 1 hour

Q. What do I need to bring for the discussion?

A. Normally, nothing is required - just yourself. However, if your discussion is going to refer to some emails or other documents, you may want to get these (either in a pen drive or a print copy if you like).

Q. Is there some activity required from my end prior to the actual discussion?

A. Yes - you will need to fill in a form that provides information about yourself, and enhances the effectiveness of the discussion. This will require approximately 10-15 minutes.

Q. Can I bring my colleague / friend / spouse / child along to the discussion?

A. It is strongly recommended that this discussion is kept confidential, between you and the coach. However, they can always accompany you to the venue and wait for you outside. In rare cases however, their presence may actually be of benefit for the coaching, and the coach may suggest this as an option for the next meeting.

Q. Do I have to take notes?

A. It is a good idea to do so. It will help you remember what was discussed and the next steps that you need to do.

Q. Will this interaction remain confidential?

A. Most certainly. Your interaction with the coach will not be known to anyone else, unless if you wish to talk about it. Neither your visit, nor the contents of the conversation will be shared by the coach with anyone else.

Q. How do I measure the success of the coaching?

A. Each individual will have their own measure of success. This can be defined upfront, and is included as one aspect in the initial information gathering form. Since you have approached the coach with a particular intent, you can definitely check whether this intent was addressed or not. At times, you get the answer right away, whereas in some cases, it will take a while (though pre-defined) to get the results. It is important to note that while the coach can help you think differently, it is only you who can act/behave differently, and achieve your results. Without this important step, you may not be able to achieve your desired results.

Q. Can I discuss the status later over the phone?

A. Certainly. GetCoached offers you two telephonic interactions as an extension of your session, to follow up on what was discussed, address issues or queries and help in whichever way possible.

Q. Can we have the coaching sessions as voice or video chat sessions?

A. Normally GetCoached would prefer to have a face to face interaction for the first session. On your request, subsequent sessions can be arranged over voice / video chat.

Q. How do we get started?

A. You can make a phone call to take an appointment. You can email us, or click on Contact Us, and we can call you back to schedule a session.

Q. What are the fees for the coaching?

A. You will be surprised to know that the coaching session will probably cost you lesser than what you and your family spend for a visit to the movies. Needless to say, it is an investment on yourself, with an impact on your career value that is far greater than the fees. Please contact us for details on the fee structure.

Q. Could I do some preliminary discussions over the phone, to decide if this coaching will be suitable for me?

A. Certainly. The coach will be happy to clarify your doubts over a phone call and help you make your decision.

Q. I have some additional questions that are not listed here. Whom do I ask?

A. You can make a phone call, or you can email us, or indicate your query in the form below.
